I have another related question. I just got my first back plate and wing set up. Is there worry about the backplate ripping the dry suit?
None whatsoever.

No, unless it has sharp edges... what did you get?

None whatsoever.

Thank you both. It’s a dive rite aluminum plate. I’m trying to configure it but was having some issues with the plate seemingly digging into my back. I probably don’t have it set up right for my body. Will be bringing it into get it sized properly.

Where exactly should the waste strap be situation on the body?

Around your waist...

I have mine near my navel since I also wear a weight belt right below that. I would prefer the waist strap to be lower but my plate isn't long enough and the belt gets in the way.

Backplate itself? Not a chance.
There is a chance if you are diving doubles or with a bolted single tank adapter, but really not likely.
I did manage to punch a hole in my old drysuit, but that was me being in rush and trying to get to the water while carrying it on one strap and falling on my back.
For peace of mind, you can get something like this Backplate Cover with Built in Buoy Pocket - SubGravity and don't ever think about this.

I assume you are asking how to minimize import taxes? I don't know the answer, @Marie13 may be able to help.

You’re already over $800 anyway just with one suit so you’re going to get hit with duties. No way around it. Splitting into different shipments wouldn’t make any difference. You chose to order from overseas to save $$, but paying duties is part of the deal. Just suck it up.

You guys are awesome! I just finished all 275 pages and feel like I might almost be ready to order a drysuit. Up until now, Ive only dove saltwater on vacation, and looking forward to doing some freshwater diving once the snow melts up here in the frozen tundra. Almost ready....

Does anyone have a pic of what the quick neck with the waterproof neo neck fitted looks like without the warm neck option? I really like the concept, just curious what it looks like without the warm neck option "finishing" the top of the suit.

Are we to the point of trusting the default apeks low profile valves or still concerned they might still have issues in 2024 and "upgrading" to the sitech inflator and dump is still the best bet to play it safe? I guess im asking if anyone is dealing with apeks lowpro leakage lately or is that all sorted now?
