Most probably a myth, the vikings did not go very far into the new world, they kept to the north east.

But vikings don't get landlocked, they carry their bots over long stretch of land ;-)

The last time I was there the sand surrounding the entire lake was covered in dead fish. Worst smelling place I've been to.
Yeah, that's probably what stunk when I was there in 1993.

I'm surprised there's even that much life on that video. Then again, there are brine shrimp in Gr. Salt Lake.

Not sure of the Salton Sea's status during the Viking era but the "recent" flooding of water into the dry lake bed began in 1905 from what I've read.

Not a dive I'd have any interest in after visiting it back in the 1980s.
