I had no idea I was in the company of such facinatingly wonderful minds..... I mean physicists, propulsion experts.... I'm amazed.... but mostly bored since I read about 10 of the 23 pages before I had to stop for fear of going nuts.... and I thought I was nuts...

Continue the madness as I need something to keep my mind off this hurricane.

Best of luck with the hurricane. It seems confused, just kind of wandering around. Kind of like . . . this thread.

Small bumps may be better than perfectly smooth from a drag perspective.

This is my understanding of how dermal denticles function on a shark's skin for the purpose of decreasing drag and increasing speed.

WHen I was young and dumber than I am now (in the 70's), the only dangers I was aware of relating to ascent rate were overexpansion injuries. I figured as long as I kept my airway open and exhaled vigourously, I'd be fine no matter what my ascent rate.

With this stroke of genius, I proceeded to 70fsw, hugged a rock, filled my at-pac(60 lb wing), kicked down like mad and when the op valve let go, released the rock, headed for the surface and kicked like hell. I *may* have cleared the water to almost my hips. It was very disappointing.

I look back on those days and am thankful that my luck was at least proportional to my stupidity.

This is one of the most pitiful threads I have ever read.

I thought this unfortunate thread had gone away, but - that is a funny story.

But was it fun?

And It only had ~250 posts - it really seemed much more than that when it was alive.

I can't believe I read the whole thing... this may have permanently damaged my views on reality. (Not that this is saying much.)

Wow I can't believe I just wasted 32 minutes of my life reading through this whole thread.
What a load of BS.
I just wish I could come up fast enough to slide straight into the RIB without any effort.
I can't even do that.
