Hello all,
Hoping to get an early evening dive in on Friday if the weather lets up.
Has anyone been out today who could give a report? And I understand the winds are supposed to up around 15mph tomorrow. I'm not so worried about the rain, but I know wind can make it ugly out at Lover's, Coral and so on but I wasn't sure about Breakwater.
I'm only asking because I live about 2 hours out and I don't want to make the drive if I can't dive.
Thanks for any help you can offer.
Mike

I took a stroll by McAbee this morning and the waves weren't too bad; 1-2 foot. Certainly diveable. The water looked ok as well. Not brown with Algae. It is now raining steadily. We'll have to see how it looks tomorrow.

Jonathan

cool. Thanks for info.
Like I said, I've gone diving in the rain, but when the wind picks up, I hate being out.
Ifyou get a chance to give a quick report tomorrow, it would be greatly appreciated.

Winter is very changeable. Don't count THAT much on today's conditions to predict tomorrow's.
Tonight is the only forecast here that's under my maximums, and not by much. The weekend
may drop a bit (P > .50) but I'm planning on yardwork.

Inside the bay will be lower. With some experience you'll learn what means "stay home", what
means "Breakwater day", what means "anywhere". Thresholds will vary from diver to diver, depending
on lots of things.

And continue to watch the forecasts, they change, more often than not for the better.

Checked out Breakwater this morning. Not Diveable!

There are high winds in the bay with whitecaps clearly visible as far as I can see. Waves are crashing against the wall sending water up onto the walkway by the fence. Waves were also reaching the stairs.

Jonathan

Yeah, the water looks mean today! I live about 10 blocks up from Cannery Row and I can see white caps and the wind has been howling all morning. I had to call two dives today. Hopefully conditions improve. I dove breakwater yesterday morning and it was fine, no swell no surge, 5-10 ft vis.

Is there any reason that there isn't like a website dedicated to scuba conditions in certain areas? Seems like it would be a good idea.

There have been a couple of efforts in that direction, but they didn't get much
in the way of posts. Heck, the whiteboard at Aquarius Del Monte doesn't get much,
and folks are standing around waiting for their tanks to be filled.

Me, I always post a trip report on ba_diving.
