If you watch the video I posted in post #8 on page 1, they are not referring to CLR. They are referring to CRL, which contains hydrofluoric (HF) that dissolves glass.

I notice the stubborn white residues on my mask lens are uneven. So, I’m not sure if they are lime scale. 30% vinegar (acetic acid) doesn’t remove the residue.

Just try CLR, the one with the red X, it absolutely does not contain HF. HF is not in any reasonable household product

Poured Bon Ami powder on the lens and vigorously brush the powder with wet toothbrush for about a minute. Repeated the procedure 4 times to no avail.

I ordered the big gun, Cerium Oxide, a minute ago from Amazon. It’ll be here tomorrow. Will report the result afterwards.

be prepared for a lot of rubbing. Better to use a polishing wheel if you have one small enough to get down to the glass. Maybe a dremel tool?
You have to be carefull with that stuff and power tools because it will remove glass. Too much and too uneven and you'll screw up the optics...but even with a machine it's fairly slow going so its not so scary. Not much fear I reckon doing it by hand.

Also, my other tip is WATER IS YOUR FRIEND. Don't let your paste get too dry while you're polishing! Keep a mister handy

I learned about this stuff a few years ago, when driving a brand new audi that I had just bought, I stopped to fish a piece of pine straw out from under the wiper blade on a rainy day. The auto wiper triggered a wipe while my had was there & I couldn't get out of the way fast enough...knocked the blade off the arm, and the arm put a nice scratch in the windshield...right in my field of view too! I ordered some and did a DIY repair that turned out pretty good!

Have you checked to see if your camera lens is foggy?
