Not staying at Villamar, but I can say it is a nice place. Has a pool, free parking for guests accross the street, and room for a BBQ!

a very large area to put up shade also... WIll be bringing my portable Carport again lol

has ANYONE made reservations yet?
If so, where? And for how much?

I checked the Villamar's site and it doesn't say $42.
It says $48. Are we getting a group rate or something?
What group do I say I'm with?

I called down there and they said they're ONLY taking reservations for the whole weekend.
We had planned on driving down Saturday early and just staying over Saturday night, then departing after the dives on Sunday.
They're saying we have to reserve Fri nite, Sat nite, and Sunday nite.
???

Locals... are there any OTHER places to stay?

Left ms with the Villamar, they didn't have that same "entire weekend" thing last time we stayed... We were planning to come in on Saturday early am too (Hubbies working until 11pm Friday night) Hopefully with a little sweet talking, the old guy will change his mind... :eyebrow:

Well, I think the difference this time is the Holiday weekend.
Lemme know if they'll lift that restriction if we bring a group or something.

Otherwise, I found that the Wellesley in Pompano will take a single night for about $70 after tax.

And Karim found a great deal at some Ramada Resort or something right on the beach.

So far, everything else is either more expensive, or requires a minimum stay.

Almost every smaller place will require a minimum stay, the reason is they don't have the large chain popularity and presence. Conversely this guarantees you a place all weekend that is totally Oceanside.

Personally, Kris and I are banking on the whole weekend as we really enjoyed out stay there last time.. its a very homey place and with it being sea side as it is, and it has a great courtyard area that accomodated a gathering very nicely.

Now, where is Grier.. is he signed up?

Oh, I'm here. Just trying to make sure that I can get away that weekend! I'm still very interested, ol' buddy!

Colin, I hope you can get the motel again at Villamar. That was really nice place.
The REEF ID class will be really nice to see everybody again, see new faces, and do some diving. Should be a nice relaxing weekend with good buddies and family.
