What’s a penetrating agent? A quick google on did not help me understand what it is supposed to do…

The reason I got a U/S cleaner is that I am afraid to use a toothbrush and leave micro scratches on the parts … especially in the areas like O-ring lands or inner walls of the regs … easy to succumb to a momentary temptation and run the brush into every nook and cranny of different parts while doing a cleaning job…

Having decided just for this post to become a Catholic and been assigned the title of Cardinal Sins

Without mechanical intervention stuff in corners stays in corners otherwise you overcook your stuff
So if you do not pick or brush out your verdigris and rust during ultrasonic you'll strip your chrome

I run brass and copper gun cleaning style brushes, through regs, with no concerns about scratching

But then I am a back to original restorer type person not a parts swapper relying on what others do

Although not advisable you can scratch up most lands and grooves even with a pick, for no ill effect

An oring is an imperfect seal which when pressurised even not, fills most imperfections in your parts

What I'll say, is that a lot of the brass brushes available today, are only brass coloured, made of steel

stainless brush threads and resurface back of valves it's really sturdy hardy dive gear not Fabergé pieces

And know what you get when you succumb to your idiosyncrasies and slather around far too much love

Check some yoke valves and regs and tell me how they're still sealing about the most pressure you'll get

Ok. So washing soda is something commonly available and something I could try. How many grams of powder per litre of water?

Right now my regs are new and without rust deposits or verdigris so I don’t really need to brush them hard except if the whitey deposits I saw inside them don’t clear up with a standard U/S cleaning round … and I was somewhat concerned about the piston working range area.

Just wanted to line up all possible solutions available at hand (get all the ducks lined up) before I actually attempt the cleaning this week because I dont want to get stuck and have to run to the market once my regs are opened up…

Can I tell you I have no clue, everything is different, people are different as
is what I and what you do, so how about the same as your mum uses mate

although I did have an extrusion when I put an old valve into a current tank

then fixed it

Don't you just have to love a valve with an SPG port, and chunky shiny chrome knurled knob, well I do

and when I wanted to know what glue to use on what stuff I put lots of glues on lots of stuff and voila
