Many happy returns, here’s a.. ahem.. clearer view of my beauty as a teaseView attachment 903137

Nah, they were limited runs / special editions: the crystal and the hot covers; they turned collectible pretty quick

Check last 2 pages here

There’s even one that’s not listed there, the gold plated version (mk10+g250) — that was more of a showroom piece but also turned collectible
WOW!!!! Amazing!!! I want one.

Progress- and this is as much time as I put into something that doesn't matter at all:

This is the inside of the G250 that I was comparing it to:

And this is the setup that I've put together. The G250 and the MK10+ came together, but the Scubapro pressure gauge was in a console so I took it out. Because ick.

You got me motivated, and I started opening up mine as well — and what do you know the barrel square broach had also undeburred edges
Now soaking a bit before I try to get that pin out

Mobulai you regulator people talk funny. What is a "barrel squared broach"??? I looked in the manual and all I can find is figure #6 (full cutaway top view) that says "1/4" hexed broached socket". What is "broaching" anyhow? This hexed broached socket looks like the thing that the barrel goes into.

barrel squared broach"?
The barrel on the hose side has a square profile (and the reg body as well) so it doesn’t rotate and misalign the lever, like a key and hub

All (plastic) SP barrel reg designs have that unlike for example Apeks
Now on the case side (soaking at the moment so no pictures, this is another barrel from another reg) the plastic had some extra that should have been deburred

E2A: I noticed that the exhaust vent spokes on the crystal, unlike all of the other g250s I’ve seem, are just 4 not 8
But they are a bit thicker — might have to do with the clear polymer used here (maybe not fiberglass reinforced).
Picture in a bit

Ohhhh I see!!! Yeah I don't go that far. So far I just take the cover and big diaphragm off and find things to complain about.
It’s a slippery slope, it’s how I started 😅

At your own pace; but bit by bit you’re getting there (if you want to) 😉

My thought right now is that I will have this setup serviced by someone who knows that they are doing, dive the heck out of it and then sell it off and buy Deep 6. It's all about the parts, right? Stuff is just hard to find for older regulators- even the greats like the G250 and G200B. The G250 that I have sat for a decade, as did the MK10+. So those won't have the upgraded poppets. My G200B also doesn't have it I'd say but could be wrong. Right now I see one compression ring that is NOS on eBay and it's like $24 with shipping. No poppets. Service kits are harder to find now too, correct?

I have the set of these now, but do I want to put the effort into learning to service these when parts will only get more and more scarce? Or just do the Deep 6 class and go that route and then parts are not a worry at all.
