I was thinking a Flexi-hone.

But the Happy Diver solution is a good one. Split a dowel, double fold a piece of 600 paper for a flapper, glue it in the split with a drop of super glue, spin it with a drill motor working back and forth.
hmmm 600 paper will take material off the barrel… i was thinking just cloth.

will make something… for my next overhaul. 🤪 i still got 4 more 2nd stages to do… but waiting for the 1st stage kits to arrive… maybe 17days by post 🫣

ive limited my overhaul to brushing metal parts and dipping in acid.

ultrasonic is just Joy soap. for 6mins… but… should i lower it?

Taking metal is good!

It is why we are here, it is why we exist, we exist for taking metal

So get an aluminium knitting needle tape a cloth to it dip it in creme cleanser and spin it in your cordless

Used 600 is perfect

Aloominuminum no good!

Used 600 is perfect
Exactly. I forget many on here are not mechanical or mechanics. And use it wet with Dawn soap, just a few spins at a time.

If there is pitting corrosion, and it appears there is, some metal has already been removed and some additional may need to be removed. The barrel, at least mine, are chrome plated inside and out. If there is verdigris and pitting corrosion the chrome is compromised and there will be pits below the surface ID.

If I really liked the regulator, I would start looking for a barrel in better shape for the best long term solution.

yeah there are barrels around…. ill probably get one… beat the reg to death… then replace the barrel. i mean its the barrel thats bad..

Perfect chance to strip your lumps-scoring out with some 600 under a running tap that clears as you spin

and you can leave your new one in the packet

Where's my mini endoscope thing

You do realise that there is less than 20mm of the length of the barrel that only needs to be sort of smooth
as the brilliant oring system makes allowances for most or all evils and the rest just slides this way then that

Where we should aspire to Nemrod standing, the king of regs, of class and elegance, just have a look at his wife
What more is there, the guy that swims down, swims around, swims back up, is there really anything more to do
