Small pieces of plastic coming out of 2nd stage

Yes.. I've heard it quite a few times over the years. Roaches crawl into second stages and chew on the soft rubber innards. Sometimes, they're still there at the start of a dive.

Always , always purge your reg before putting it in your mouth. Divers have learned this the hard way.

A day later I was thinking the same thing. What would have happened if I had gone for a dive and in my normal pre-dive check put each 2nd stage in mouth to test them while watching the SPG. Just by chance due to tuning other 2nd stages I didn't , and after tuning, tested my normal regs.

Very good advice from tech_diver - ALWAYS purge the 2nd stage before putting it in your mouth.

(Yes it has been a bumper cockroach season here so very confident that was the offending bug.)
