G200b is a sweet stage. Turning the g200 into a balanced second checked many boxes. Sadly, they killed it off. The one issue is that the tuning plug tended to seize with salt or grit, scoring the surface which messed up it sealing. Also, with the plug getting stuck, the hex flats would round out with too much force.

I find these as freshwater gems around here occasionally, but most that come from salt use are suffering.

I wonder if polishing the port with fine abrasive might help... Might need to go up in o-ring size if the material removed is too much.

I really like the g200b...

That sounds like a job for Sea Foam Deep Creep!!! How is that for a shade-tree mechanic solution? But the reality is probably that for many of them, the previous tech needed that trick and not the current one.

And here I thought when I got the notification that someone was coming in to weigh in on parts and to tell me it wasn't an issue. They are great-looking together!!!

Thank you!!!

I guess based on the manual it's the "exhaust port center section" that I am trying to remove. If I don't want to wait overnight can I just use something soft and push on the exhaust diaphragm and run some warm water in there?

EDIT- just ran water through the side ports. LOL
I almost always soak for a few hours if not overnight for stuff I got from ebay - loosen everything up before full cleaning.

100%
I even add some listerine mouthwash to pre clean — some of these eBay finds tend to be a bit nasty from storage

The good news is that the amount of leakage will generally be minimal and the few drips will collect at the.bottom of the housing (unless you're upside down) and be purged through the exhaust with every exhalation.

The corrosion appears minimal.

The exhaust does not need to be deburred but if you are OCD then go right ahead. Do not use a Dremal please. A simple semi-dull blade will remove the mold flash.

The screws are later versions, earlier versions had a pin that was pushed in and out. Or am I getting that backwards?

The slip ring is ScubaPro and despite the broken off tabs is still useable.

Just for those who are interested…….

The G200 came in 1988 on the market. It was supposed to be the pendant for the new MK200.

Quite from the beginning SP offered an Upgrade Kit to the so called G200 Balanced 2nd.

Service Kits for the G200 are still available (11.109.045), at least here in Europe.

From 1991 – 1997 the G200 B was offered and sold in the US and Europe.

Technically same with the upgraded G200, the G200 Balanced, which could be recognized by its own decal on the purge button, it was now a separate model with the G200 B Decal.
