I went ahead and signed up, I am about 90% sure I will be able to make it. Talking to a buddy of mine out of Dallas to see if he can come out. He thinks he may be able to.

On a side note, as this is in the midwest muck divers area, we should probabaly open it also in the Texas thread, its about as far from Dallas area as it is from mine and I know theres alot of divers down that way.

I got regs on backorder from Aqua Lung, I really hope they come in soon =)

Is there a place near table rock that rents larger tanks.. like 100s or so?

Their instructors dive with 100's so I'd think you could get Louis to rent them, although he's out of town right now. I hope he gets back soon, I'd like to get another tank O2 cleaned.

Thanks for taking the time, nice of you to do that.

My buddy and his wife have gotten the time off approved, we may come in a day early and try to get some extra dives in. Ive never dove table rock though so I need to look into the sites and see where I can find some shore diving. Im new so also likely need to start obtaining dive flags and various other gear.

Guess last question would be exposure suit... I dont get cold too easy, should I be able to get by in a full 3?

I doubt it. I dove last weekend and this guy says he's fine in a 3mm and has done those temps before. Last I seen he was signing his buddy that he was freezing and wanted to go up.

If you keep it to 25 feet or less you'll be fine, below that and it's going to get cold fast. A 7mm would be my personal minimum suit of choice, although I'll dive dry if I have a buddy, wet if I don't and then it's a 7mm.

You have a couple places that are good for shore diving, Dewey Short is the most popular and you can go down very deep if you want, lots to see in just that area alone.

I'm coming down Friday and will leave Sunday afternoon, I'm planning on doing some diving...

Midnite,

If you're going to dive the Project Aware, they're providing boat service on their pontoon boat. The goodies that Scuba Sports is providing is definately worth donating, but if you can't afford to donate they won't break your legs.

I'm sure there will be others diving alternate locations as well. I may be renting a boat for the day so that other divers with ALL of their own gear can go out with out Scuba Sports, but can still follow them to locations. I won't expect anything in return, other than meeting a handfull of other divers, but if someone wanted to pitch in on a rental I wouldn't complain.

As for an exposure suit, I normally dive during the summer in a 2/3 tropical full wetsuit. I do dive in a 3/5 farmer as well from time to time depending on temp. So an exposure suit would be recommended for depths below 30 ft (past 1st thermocline), but as usual an exposure suit is good to have for protection from fish hooks and underwater brush. So you could get away with a 3mil full or a 3 to 5 mil farmer. If you're going below 60 feet, I'd suggest a hood as well.

You'll find some ducks out there with divers on it, some shore diving at the various areas, nothing is really off limits during the cleanup.

As to exposure protection, I'd say a 7mm is good if you go below the thermocline although I dove with a guy last Sunday who used a 3/2 and seemed fine at 123 feet except for the continuing to go down bit until I stopped him. It's rare for a person to be comfortable in a 3mm there for any length of time below the thermocline.

Personally, I'll bring my drysuit and my 7mm and use whichever one suits the temps.

I will have all of my own gear when this trip rolls around, I have a buddy and his wife coming up from Texas and they will be bringing rental gear.

I signed up on the site and had them do the same. I believe I will drive there on Thursday and dive through Sunday. I dont know anyone else other than from chatting on the board so I a hoping to meet up and perhaps do some diving with some of you.

As far as the donating goes, I dont mind it a bit.

Sounds like Ill do it like I did in OW, bring the 7 just in case but may try and get away with the 3. My LDS just called, the regs are in =)

Thanks fellas.

-Josh

Ok, found out that Mike from Aqua F/X is out for that weekend. I'll most likely be reserving a boat for that day, depending on how many divers Scuba Sports expects to show.
