I THINK it was $359.00 but I am not sure. I didn't pay that close attention (to the E7 100) price tag because, at the time, I was looking for an E7 80 for shallow recovery dives and pool training sessions. Since I am on my sheriff department's dive team, the prices I am often quoted at the 2 LDS I deal with frequently include my Public Safety Diver discount, so I am not always sure what retail price is. If you would like I can check on the shop's listed price. I do remember Bob said the had the PST, Worthington and Fabers tanks (of the same size) all priced the same to make things easier.

OK,

I have uploaded three high resolution photos to my Photo Gallery. These were slightly cropped but not "doctored" in any other way. The first shot is a group photo that shows one (of four) E7 80's, two (of four) E7 100s, and the only E8 130 that Bob received in his recent shipment. The E8 130 had a hydro date of 2005, but close-up photos of the E7 100 shows a hydro date of 02/08, and the DOT permit number is SP 9791. My E7 80 had a 2007 hydro date and a DOT-E 9791 exemption. Note the new style valve they are now using. I hope this information helps.

BTW- the dealer is asking $359.95 for the 100s.

Hmm....interesting. Very interesting indeed.

Someone needs to tell PST that Worthington is outdoing them when it comes to the writing on the crown of the tank -- the Worthington writing is MUCH larger and easier to read. Small detail, but...details count. :)

Their new valves look sexy. If I get 100s, it is for another double set up, so I don't care about a valve though. Their resale value won't be good.

It might help if they used something to line up the letters, too... looks like a gradeschooler wrote it!

That said... very interesting. I'll believe it when I see them a LOT more widespread, though.

Hard to say for sure, because the regs are a bit nebulous, and the DOT exemptions branch seems to have a lot of leeway in how they interpret them. The renewal doesn't necessarily have anything to do with the new tanks. It's so the old tanks can continue on in service. My understanding is that the DOT decided that since the new tanks are being made in another country and by a new company, that they needed a new exemption of their own, and to go through all the approval procedures that a brand new tank would need. However, PST had a bunch of old made-in-the-USA shells, so they were able to talk the DOT into letting PST finish them under the old exemption.

I remember the old thread that PST renewed the Exemption. Just out of curiosity, why can't the joint venture company use the same Exemption? I mean that the last renewal must have been done after being merged.

For all I know that OMS valve may be great but based on perception Worthington as an edge with the bright finished Thermo valve.

Is one of those cylinders wet or is that globs of galvanize material all over it?

The stampings do have a DIY look to them.

Pete

The 80 was still wet from being filled in the cooling tank. The 100s and 130 were dry.

Also FWIW the HP80 was probably the best seller around here. Great buoyancy/weight properties and comparable gas to buddies with AL80s and less. In 2005 when the E7-80 was built for Tec and priced for rec @ $205. they were a great buy.
Pete

It's funny how things are different regionally. I've only seen 1 or 2 of these HP 80's being used locally. There were a bunch of them sitting around the shops (before the PST crash) because no one wants them around here due to their short height. In this area the E7-100 and E-8 130's are much bigger sellers.
