man you are an inspiration.

what if you left the double-ender on the line (not the spool) when you shot the bag so that the line moves thru the gate of the double-ender as the bag ascends. when the bag hits the surface you just have to work the gate over a hole in the spool and the double ender is clipped off.

clear as mud?

Yeah, that makes sense. That's why I stopped and picked up (off the floor) the double ender when I dropped it. (It'd actually "dropped" (If I were in water, on to the spool.)

So, yeah, makes perfect sense. Either way, I'm still going to have trouble clipping it back onto the spool. I'll work on figuring it out though to make it easier. :)

Just talking out loud here. Maybe this works, maybe it doesn't, but you can also secure line fairly well on the spool by taking one loop off the spool, rotating it 180* and then putting it back on the spool. This might be easier one handed and you may be able to spool it in while it is set up like this.

I don't know if I can explain what I'm talking about over the internet, but you basically make a loop in the line and put the loop back on the spool so the line is wrapped around itself and goes around the spool once in the opposite direction before it gets to the SMB.
