Hi, just to provide a more recent account of these fins: I bought them from my local shop recently and just completed 11 dives on the central GBR with them. Prior I was using SP seawing nova gorillas and they've been great but I wanted to give tech fins a spin. In comparison to the SPs, the tridents are extremely easy to move around in the water, so not as much braking power compared to the SPs. As they are smaller than most fins, I also feel less worried about scraping rock when diving in tight places.
The main reason I tried these fins though was to test if backfinning would be easier, as the positive buoyancy of the SP SWNGs tend to lift my feet up and are tough to get back down. What I found was that the Tridents were easier to perform the backkick, but tended to require a lot more power and space to move the same amount of water. Overall, really great, robust design but like all new fins, will take alot of getting used to.
Disclaimer: I'm not a tech diver myself (I don't dive below 30m or 19°C) but mostly engage in tropical reef surveys and monitoring, so I do require a lot of precision and position control in the water.
