Back to that sportsmans plus... so that's an extra 20 kilos in addition to the normal 2 pieces 70lbs? I was going to send some dive gear ahead for my visit in June (Already sent check infor tickets!) via Balikbayan box :)

30 bucks for for an extra piece would be well worth it. so do I understand it irght?
Ben, its 30 kilos additional for a valid sportsplus card holder. I don't know if you can send it ahead. As far as I know, the privilege is only granted when the passenger takes the flight along with his/her sports equipment. Yuo may want to try contacting the nearest stateside PAL ticketing office to clarify your query.

Depends where you're flying from. From within Asia, the normal allowance is one carry-on of 7kg and only one checked bag of 20kg (economy). This is the most ridiculously skimpy baggage allowance I've ever witnessed.

To and from the US, you are allowed two checked bags total 32 kg each.

So for me, I basically have to pay for this sports plus upgrade, just to get to a reasonable baggage allowance.

There is no joy flying within Asia with this carrier.

Caloy,
I'll ask the ticket office... I'm under the impression that this give you an additional piece (20 kgs) in addition to your regular check in of 2 pcs of 70 lbs each

Yes Ben that's correct...2 pcs 70 lbs each plus the add'l sportplus baggage allowance (maybe an add'l 70lbs). And that privilege can also be used in your domestic travels here. Just put a gear bag lock for good measure though.
