Opening Day at White Star and Important Information about April 2

As you probably know April 1st is opening day at White Star Quarry. At 8am the season starts with the quarry being open for diving every day from 8am until Dark.

On April 2 (Good Friday) the Ohio Department of Natural Resources will be putting 2500 trout into the quarry... While this is cool for divers, it is also cool for the fisherman. If you go out diving on the 2nd please be careful. The fisherman are allowed on the quarry just like the divers are... the fish will be going into the water in the morning and the fisherman only have a limit of 5 so they will not be there long.

Hey Matt. Earlier now bonecrusher has the day off so we can come early now. If you want to do 10am I will see what he says. He's in florida right now though.

It's not out of the question yet. I got family coming in for the Easter weekend. It depends when they will be here on Fri.; if it's later in the day, I just may show up at about 10:00 or so. If I do, don't tell Mike, he'll think I'm a traitor

I am still on the fence for this outing. I have to work until about 1 pm -2 pm, plus I dont know if I will have my drysuit cert yet. I dont think I want to dive wet that early. We shall see.

I used to have to do the same thing when I did the Gilboa website. I really like Mike and Gilboa, but I also enjoy diving Whitestar a lot.... It doesn't have to be ONE or the THE OTHER... LOL

Be wary of fishermen dropping "redneck anchors". I had advanced students in the water a few years ago and some guy was repeatedly tossing and retrieving a coffee can filled with concrete attached to a chain overboard. Luckily no bubbles were near where he was doing this but it showed me you never know when you're going to get hit on the head with something heavy.
