It's snake oil. But people who think they respond well to one type of snake oil will in all likelihood respond to other types of snake oil. It's called the Placebo Effect.
Ask yourself this: What is the scientifically proved mechanism of action by which this "natural" treatment works? Modern medicine works -that's one of the big reasons why our mortality rate is significantly lower now than during the dark ages.
Physiology 101, Basic Chemistry, and Anatomy & Physiology should be required courses for high school students. It would cut down on these scam artists who rip people off and prey on their fears.
But that's just my educated opinion.
I'm curious regarding your opinion on acupuncture. Is acupuncture "snake oil"? Do you believe it is effective? It has worked for me. NAET is based on the principals used in acupuncture treatment.
You are entitled to your educated opinion. Do you have allergies to anything you know of? If so I'd suggest you try the simple muscle response test of several items of the same weight. Hold one item in one hand at your side. Hold your other arm straight out in front of you. Have someone push down on your extended arm. Then do it for the other item. You will notice a vast difference in the item you are allergic to. This does work even for people who are skeptics!
There are things in our lives that are not completely understood by man. Scientists, physicians, chemists do not know everything. If they did there would be no ongoing research. We all face aging and disease. It is a given. Rather than label a successful treatment as "snake oil" I'd like to see research into why it works. We as humans could learn an entire new method of healing that is totally non-invasive.
Twenty or so years ago chiropractic was not at all accepted in the medical community. So many people had success with chiropractic that it is accepted today and insurance companies pay for it. The push for acceptance was by people in the population who had success with it. I suspect the same will happen with NAET.
I do not understand the aggressive continued negative response to a treatment that works. In fact, everyone here who has responded has never tried NAET! This treatment gives people back their lives. It cures allergies.
It is working for me and I will keep you posted.
