Hello Its 415gem back again. Getting ready for my holiday... 2 months from now . Wanted to say hello to Jai Gamboa AXUA and all the great folks I meet last time . I love the phils. and wanted to ask if things are good or bad ??? I saw somewhere ... find Pinoy in the crowd ( Waldo ) and it was a protest to Oust Gloria . Are things stable there ??? Or is it just as stable as the Phils can be ??? I heard a great joke ... What keeps the poor people from killing the rich people ... RELIGION !!! Well I love the phils and would like to marry a pinay and have family . Simple life . Try be good neighbor to my Pinoy host. I like the area of Valencia in Negros Oriental. I`ve read in the Sun Star that there have been a lot more robberies on the highway to Valencia and also armed robberies at Banks . One person shot at . I like a little danger but dont want to get killed over 1000 pesos . I understand people are desperate ... needs money for food or keep family alive . I just wonder if its getting worse in Dumaguete ??? I thought it was one of the nicest cities in Phils I saw . Any info or input would be appreciated . I was also wondering whether it `s a better idea to rent/ lease or buy land in Phils. ??? Salamaat Po:D

Hi Gem. I'm going back for my third tour this year in about a month. The Philippines are as safe as anywhere else I've traveled. Just use common sense.

Diver Dennis Good for u my friend . Ahhhh the warm waters , cold San Migs and hot ladies . Philippines !!! I am with u on that ... about safety . This next time I will go to Mindanao Cayagan and Davao. Camiguin and Gen Santos area . Also from Dava there are now flights to Palau !!! Yeah !!! I love a little danger , like I said ... I am just tryin to look ahead 10 years . Like u said everywhere has danger . Just be cool , don`t make enemies or stand out... be flashing $ , or do something really stupid , illegal . I am just about done with the US right now . I figure it may be good time to check somewhere else out . I love the Phils !!! Might make it my home .

last time there was a rumored coup attempt 5 of us were in anilao diving. :D don't take the political thing seriously bud...it's a very big joke.

regarding general safety, you've been here right? nothing has changed. :wink:

btw, i think dennis will be running for president of the Philippines come 2007...i suspect he's campaigning already :eyebrow:

Kevin all is well here in the Philippines. Regarding Dumaguete, the stuff you here in the news about robberies and all else are just the usual crimes that you can find in any city in the world. TV news and most regional and tabloid dailies in the Philippines like to feature this kinds of news items because it is what sells to their audience. In the case of Sun Star, its probably because nothing really happens much in the Visayas area aside from maybe a stolen bike or chicken run over by a jeepney.

Nothing major to worry about as long as you don't plan to live in the remotest town deep into sugar cane plantations in Negros Oriental.

Axua:
or chicken run over by a jeepney.

It's probably BIG news to the chicken and it's family.:crying:

i'm kidding......of course.:froze:

WOW...MR President :coffee:

I went to PG number of times, went back to Manila Airport with public bus Philippines are safe.

Never had any grief in the PI: -

never got into a fight (erm...);

never got ripped off (well...);

never been caught up in floods (er...);

never been caught out by a typhoon (um...);

never witnessed a volcano blow up (actually...);

never been evacuated from a coup attempt (come to think of it...);

never had a gun pointed at me in earnest (well, as a matter of fact...);

never been arrested there (OK, maybe once...but only once...);

never had a tits-out-nipples-clamped-howling-at-the-moon-time-of-my-life-hedonistic-party-to-end-all-parties (alright, that one's a total lie)

Love the place!

Not all the above was entirely true...
