I stopped at the shop I used for my OW and AOW classes. I really trust this guy and he really wants to sell people what they want and need. I know the 2 regs I'm going to ask about are apples to oranges but it's not the specs on the regs I amasking about.

I'm torn between buying a TUSA 400 First Stage and having a 30 Second stage put on which the guy is wanting to do for me since he doesnt think the 60 Second Stage is really that good and thats what actually comes with the 400 First Stage. However he is offering an incredible deal on a RS460. Anyway He also sells Zeagle and has Flathead VI/ZX in stock as well. My issue is, I know that I'll be to do more with the Zeagle. I am interested in wreck diving which will probably involve doing dives with deco stops and colder water. No idea where I plan to go with this since We've only been diving since August and it's been quarry and Cozumel.

I'd like to know what people think. Get the reg thats definitely capable of handling what I am to do now or get the one that will handle anything I may want to do in the future. I plan on purchasing a full set of gear this winter and have started to save now. Just have not decided which way to go with it. Thanks for your input.

Given your planned progression doing the latter is a no brainer.

Even if you do not go down the technical road the regulator set is the one item where you want to get the best you can afford.

If no money object, thing about Apeks ATX200/XTX200 and Scubapro MK25/S600 or MK17/S555.

If there is one close try another shop. Can't have too much information or choices. Check pricing online to get an idea on the deal you are getting but buy locally if you can.

I'll put in a strong vote for the Zeagle. I dive them and love them, I'm just about to buy a second one to have a matched set on my doubles. As one other response said, if you think you might be doing diving where this reg will be benficial in the future, get it now. You're better off buying once than buying twice to get the same thing.

I love my Atomic. Have used scubapro, aqualung, aeris and others. Aeris has some very inexpensive ones that have some great features at low prices. Atomic is much more expensive and they have great ratings, I LOVE mine. crazyscuba.com is having a huge moving sale right now, you might try talking with them. They've always given me great advice and great deals.

Great answer.....

I've had my XTXs at 130' on wrecks and 2000' back in a cave and they work the same..GREAT... The cost is not that bad... just shop around and be sure to get them from an authorized dealer (free service parts )

Buy from your local dive store. If there are a couple in the area check them all out. Definitely get something that is bought locally and can be serviced with ease. No point buying Apex if your local dive shops don't stock them. If you need to choose between Tusa and Zeagle go for the Zeagle.

Remember every diver out there will tell you why the reg they have is the best.

I just use whatever my local dive store carries. At least that way I know the technician knows how to service my reg and that the store actually carries the service kits and parts as well as any special tools that particular reg may need.

I haven't dived with a bad reg yet although I do prefer some from others.
