We have a long layover in Grand Cayman on the way back from Cayman Brac, arriving at GCM early in the morning and leaving mid-afternoon. We probably ought to be back at the airport by 1:30 or 2:00. Any suggestions on how to kill some time? We had the same kind of schedule last year, maybe a little less time. We saw the Seven Mile Beach area, went shopping a little, had some lunch. We don't really need to do that again. Is there anything in particular you would recommend to do in four hours or so? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

None of these are particularly great ideas just something to do.

Go to Boatswains Beach. It's the old Turtle Farm with new attractions. But it's $60pp - yikes...Might not be worth it though considering the ride each way is probably a 1/2 hr or more. They were supposed to open last year but I just saw something in Sport Diver recently announcing the grand opening.

Go to Sunset House, have lunch on the water at My Bar. See the Cathy Church Photo Gallery in the basement of the main house. Not much else to do there though since you can't dive.

You could snorkel at Eden Rock in Georgetown. Some of the coral patches are less than 15' from the surface. They had lockers also when we were there. And a rinse shower.

This Post was initiated a few years ago but I wanted to provide an update.

In October, 2010 our family and some friends had a 5 hour layover on Grand Cayman after our visit to Little Cayman.

On this posts old advice, we left the airport, walked across the street, rented a car and drove to the Sunset house. Wow what a nice way to spend the afternoon. We were able to get out of that cramped little GC airport, have lunch at their restrauant, visit the Cathy Church gallery and most of all, get a bit more fresh air. The food was good and you are virtually on the waterfront.

It is only a 10-15 minute drive from the airport to Sunset House. The gallery also has a huge selection of cameras, binoculars, etc if you are looking to purchase.
