I waited for today to post this , just to see if anyone would post the reason for the long hose to go behind the wing, needless to say" I'm very disappointed"

The reason the long hose goes in between the wing and the tank is; so the long hose does not choke the wing off. If the wing has a hose pulled tight over it , it will trap gas on one side making it a possible out of controll ascent hazard. all the dumps are on the other side. It will also cause a diver to be out of trim for the entire dive . this will cause the diver to use more gas than an average dive , This causes all sac rates to increase, so much for gas management.

if you use a wing, you should know that nothing should interfear with the dumping of the wing, and having one side trapping gas is just dangerous to say the least.

I think it would be reasonable to say" learn how to use your equipment , this isn't a fashion show "

The tank is on one side of the wing, and the backplate is on the other. Why is putting the hose between the wing and the backplate more likely to choke the wing off than putting the hose between the wing and the tank?

I think it would be reasonable to say "get off your high horse your royal higness, thank you for your arrogance."

Your response is the typical DIR response from some on this board. It's full of arrogance and single minded doomsday BS. There are other places that a hose routes over the top of the wing - the LP inflator hose. I know, "It's on the side with the dumps." Whatever.

It's amazing how you can go to other boards, that are actually tech centric, and not get an arrogant answer or post from it's members. Here on SB, you have this group of DIR divers who seem to think it's OK to give responses like the one above.

It's funny how a lot of really good DIR divers tend to give advice in an instructor sort of way, while others, like yourself, tend to be the "See, you're stupid for not knowing that." way.

Take off Nova.

I guess you want the lesson on the LP inflater hose now? I'm not GUE or DIR . I'm straight up hog rig and have lots of dives to prove it. I learned this lesson the hard way and when I see dangerous advice given I tend to jump on it with both feet. I like the diver who started this thread and I can't stand some of the divers that gave bad info. they always speak before they know, as you have.

Wow, we've progressed to "any diver with a know-it-all attitude is DIR" have we?

Hogwash!

Running the hose behind the wing works fine, especially if you have a can light to run the hose under. However, when I dive without the light I run the hose streight down my side and tuck it in my belt far back close to the plate. The hose doesn't interfere with the wing in any way.

So, the long hose is no longer carried across the chest and around behind the neck?

Yes kracken but after it runs down the tank under the wing and light then up around the neck.

you seem sure about that. good luck. feel free to run that long hose right over the top of the wing and then pull tight and tuck the hose any way you want. seeing is beleaving.
