The problem is your wing. It kind of wraps around your tank, as if it were too bit. An STA will help. I have the same first stage and no problem with any of my wings. I use a 90-deg fitting off the turret for my reg hose; it moves the hose off to the side nicely.

what wings do you use? You're right in that the wing wraps/ cradles the tank

you use a fixed 90 on the first stage or one of those swiveling ones?

I have three wings: HOG, Deep6, and I forget.
The swivel is just in one plane.

do you have any recommendations for first stages? Going to for sure try it with a sta. Would this also be solved by getting a wing that isn't so tall? I've seen some that are more boxy
I like the MK 17 but I think once you put an STA on the plate you’ll find it has enough setting options than your D6 will be fine.

My issue is how tight the gap is between the tank and bc for the first stage to fit. Lower the cylinder (raising the wing) makes the problem worse
I suspect he might have meant "raise" the tank.... or from the perspective of the photo, lower the BC relative to the tank as it's standing on the floor

Prob wouldn't have to move it very far, but how would that affect your trim?

How would it look if you turn the regulator 90°? or 180°

ultimately, I'm trying to lower the bc on the cylinder, but I'm at the limit currently before I hit my head on the first stage and am unable to look directly ahead.

Put the turret up and drop the tank relative to the wing.

I have tried this as well. I can certainly get the tank much lower down like this which is nice for head clearance. However, it presents an issue with the long hose running directly over the tank valve as you see in the photo. I would worry about it getting caught when deploying. Also, it seems that the wing is definitely not designed to be placed that high with that big gap.

Hello all,

I'm sure this is not a unique situation, but wanted to get some second opinions on what course to take with this. I have a deep6 signature regulator that I've configured for my single tank setup with long hose running off the 5th port at an angle. Issue I'm running into is, with the wing set at the shoulder of the tank, there is almost no room between the wing and the tank valve for the hoses to route cleanly. A full wing puts a lot of torque on the first stage and traps the long hose in that gap. This is also an issue with the other hoses even though I don't have them attached in these photos. Lowering the wing any further and the tank sits way too high on my back and I hit my head on it. I have already lowered the unit as far as I can through loosening the shoulder straps and tightening the crotch to the point that the bottom of the plate is at the top of my butt. I have a couple options I'm debating and am curious what y'all would recommend.

1) use a different regulator that isn't as tall
2) use a different wing that is wider instead of taller (dive rite travel wing possibly)
3) use an STA that lets me get the whole rig lower on my back. The current placement of the slots in the plate and slots in my wing only allow for one combination of wing and plate height.

I've attached some photos to show what I'm talking about. Thank you all in advance for your thoughts.
I don't know anything. I am an idiot on the internet.
A bit of searching yielded this:

But hey, you do you...
