At the risk of being beaten to death and called "DUDE", (ok just joking AGAIN! yes I do have a sense of humor),
We have gurnet "big mouth, red, poisonous, spikey thingy Gurnet Perch, a member of the scorpion fish family. Horrible nasty things you NEVER want to get stung by unless you have a machete to hack your hand off to rid you from the pain, .................... but they taste sooooooo delicious.
On the menu at Fleet landing in Charleston SC when we bring some in.Last year we landed 2000 lbs, this year we plan on ramping up production.Another boat has also started full time harvest up there and a few restaurants have it as a special when there is a supply.
Thanks for the post - I've had it once (speared it myself) and me, my dive instructor, my dive buddy, and my wife all agreed it was just about the best fish we've ever tasted - can't wait to get more and try some sashimi and ceviche.
