100+ replies over 4 days to a topic that has been beaten to death over and over again here, there and everywhere. Thanks Dandy... You musta been really bored to post the likes of this again. If you spent as much time diving as you do fear mongering you'd have grown gills by now.
While we're at it, what's the best deal on swimming with the dolphins at Chankanaab? :)

So, don't read it.

I was also hoping for discussion about Dive and Trip insurance.

Some lady telling people that experienced motorcycle riders with decades of riding expertise are basically idiots who are going to get wrecked in coz.
Wasn't just "some lady"... Christi lived on the island for a very long time. Her comment was from extensive experience of life on the island. It had nothing to do with advising "experienced motorcycle riders".

Most everyone on here is some sort of adrenaline junky to some extent.
This is an interesting claim... and I will argue it is completely unfounded. The "adrenaline junkies" that are attracted to scuba diving tend not to last too long. The fact that many of us have lived through hundreds or thousands of dives is evidence that we are not "adrenaline junkies."

And yet here you are adding to the 100+ replies. Funny. Not my favorite topics either, but hey apparently all of us on here must have a few extra minutes in their lives to read and post.

True dat. I dive because of the deep peace it brings me and the beauty to behold. I certainly don't do it to feel like I cheated death one more time.

There was another serious scooter accident yesterday. Tourists on scooter blew a stop sign in the downtown area and crashed into one of those big police trucks that was moving at a high speed on a street where it had the right of way. I recall that its lights were flashing but don't know if it had its siren on. One of the tourists is in critical condition.

I doubt they had siren on. They almost never have their sirens on (as I know you (@MMM ) already know but others might not ). On the other hand I am sure their flashing lights were on. The joke has always been that police always keep the lights flashing so that criminals will know they are coming and have the opportunity to hide. Arrests take a lot of paperwork ….

I think they got a talking to yesterday. All trucks flying by my house today have had their sirens on.

Yeah, that was Don and how he started the thread. I think the more important subject from the start hasn't really had much discussion, insurance. I won't leave home without it..

While simply living through hundreds or thousands of dives is surely not evidence of that, I saw this and thought it was funny.

While most are here to relax and enjoy, of course it doesn't discount the many possible dangers. To me scuba is my yoga and breathwork. When I am stressed, I'll go hop in the water.

Running a stop sign, that's no bueno anywhere. Lucky they are not both dead.
