The Castor is dazzling, I would make sure to include it in your itinerary

Here is the Castor !

Please watch in 1080P..don't watch at auto 360!!!

This could be one of the most beautiful wrecks in the hemisphere...It should be on every Dive Tourist's "Must Dive" list!
Splashdown Divers, Loggerhead, Starfish, and Underwater Explorers are the boats that frequent this wreck.

+1 vote for the Castor. Been going during Labor Day weekend for the past 3 years. Plenty of Goliath Groupers there on each visit. Great opportunity for photo and video.

Here's a couple of screen shot photos from a go pro video (e.g. low quality resolution) I took at the Zion wreck in Jupiter last year:

If you dive the Zion wreck trek, note that it is a drift dive. If you wait for most of the divers to drift away and remain at the first wreck (the Zion) by yourself or with just one of two divers, the GG's will approach relatively closely. Sometimes they'll scatter to the sand if there are a large number of divers, but they'll come back after the scene clears of most of the divers. I dove with Jupiter Dive Center

This video shows underwater fishing for jewfish on the Castor. I don't think it really matters were you dive that time of year. All big wrecks and tall natural structure will hold GG.

DD, the quality of the video is good....but really...you have to know how distasteful the act of tagging these fish is going to be for many members here. Many of the goliaths will die...and many of the scientists that do this are bankrupt of any empathy for the species......many are like the kids that pull wings off of flies...and claim it to be studying them..of course the Goliaths are a higher form of life than flies....

I have met a very small number of fisheries biologists that I can respect....I don't know the one in the video--it is not fair for me to make stereotypic judgements about him without knowing him...but this behavior is upsetting.

What did I just watch ?

"Collecting Dorsal Spines for Ageing Studies"

What kind of research is this for ?

.

:shakehead::shakehead::shakehead: Empathy is not all that common in the medical field let alone ichthyology..

So in your next video, you'll be bringing down 4 surgeons and a gas passer ? :)

?????? Not sure what that means... This is my latest jewfish video, shot a few weeks ago... Were we empathetic enough?
