as I rutured my eardrums about 30 years ago, and was told at the time that my diving was over. For 2 years I could not clear them in 8 feet of water, and gave up trying.

On a snorkel trip to GC about 2 years ago, I got to 22 feet with no problems, and have been re-certified and diving with no problems since.

Don't give up until you have exhausted every possibllity. Even the experts can be wrong occasionally.

Never say Never Again.

The folks are right about healing, give it time.

Did you ever get your weight back from Athens last year? I think I saw that someone had found it.

How bout hamburgers and hot dogs at Clear Springs? Or, I can whip up a good Dutch Oven dinner if time allows.

Can we get wood there or have to pack in charcoal?

Please don't let this get in the way of your contact with your friends.

Patty,
I'm very sorry to hear about your situation, but I happen to wholeheartedly agree with Gary. It might take a miracle to get you back underwater with us, but I just happen to believe in miracles. God works in mysterious ways, so don't give up hope. Anything is possible! :)

Thanks for all your kind replies. I may yet show up at some diving get together to watch the gear or something.

For all of you who say to hold out hope...
There's no chance. Dead bone stays dead, and I'm suseptible to Osteonecrosis in every bone in my body now. Yes, you can get it in the long bones too. Snorkeling is fine, and swimming is excellent exercise since it's non-weightbearing, but scuba is out forever. You tell me if you could actually keep up with your gear, and put all the effort into suiting up and then only go 10 ft. Yeah, right!

And, anyway, I am not supposed to carry the weight anymore either. No lifting. You should see the size of my knee today. It's so full of fluid that I can hardly bend it. I can find something else to do; it's not the end of the world.

Sorry I am a little late but I am sorry to hear about this too. I do recall your enthusiasm when you first got certified. However, please don't let this stop you from hanging with the TSDT. Right now, your health and that knee getting better is what is important.

My prayers are with you

there is always hope.:)
