I am at a complete loss for words.

Fortunately, NWGratefulDiver had already spoken my thoughts.
NWGratefulDiver:
Oh man ... I feel like somebody just ran fishooks through my guts.

I never met Rob personally. But through a series of Internet discussions ... often in vehement disagreement with each other ... we developed a friendship and mutual respect. I had looked forward to the day when I could hook up with him for a dive.

Life throws us curves ... Rob obviously took this one on the noggin'.

Rest in peace, my friend ... I miss you already ...

... Bob (Grateful Diver)

I am hoping to post funeral and memorial arrangements here soon. If I can fly out for that, I will.

H2Andy:
will it be possible to send flowers on behalf of ScubaBoard to the funeral?

can we do something for the family?

My condolences to his family and friends.

I second this...

I have a bad day today after hearing about BJD. One of the SB greats.

Andrew

My deepest condolences to his family, and those close to him.
It was a shock to read the sad news this morning.

WHAT?! Tell me this is some kinda' sick joke... This is horrible... I don't even care what happenned...

I'm shocked and saddened. I just barely missed meeting him at Houston Dema, but have enjoyed knowing him here. This is a great loss for us as well as his family and others.

The first time I met Rob was right here on Nasa Road 1 at our local dive shop. He was in there talking about wrecks, and I jumped into the conversation. He didn't know at the time, it was me, and I didn't know it was him. I gave the owner some of my flyers for an upcoming Bonaire trip and left. Rob must have looked at the flyers and then realized it was 'me'. He was not a Mod at this time. He quickly sent me a PM telling me who he was, and we became friends after that.

I saw him again at DEMA that year. Anyway, I saw Rob again the following DEMA, and we kept in touch a bit through PMs.

He was a wonderful gentleman, and probably one of the smartest men I know.

I am very sad by his passing, but I'm very happy to know he is with the Lord.

i last spoke with Rob last week. he called to check up on me, see how i
was doing after some (meaningless) internet squabble.

he was very happy, full of life. offered to come diving with me if he was in
the area. i said, of course, come on down, any time.

Rob was just such an earnest guy, honest and no-nonsense. he had a great heart.

you never know the last time you speak with someone will be the last time, until later

This is horrible news... he will be missed.

Condolences...
