I'm taking an ice diver class this winter; how dark does it get under the ice...should I bring a flash light?

Depends on how much snow is on top of the ice and how late in the day it is, but normally, no, a light is not needed and just adds another piece of equipment you have to manage.

But lights can be good for the dive team to communicate with each other under the ice.
