kitty litter in your drysuit boots?
Hydrate with beer.
Sam I have the solution to your problems. It came to me just a little while ago as my wife was walking through the kitchen, she sneezed and grabbed her crotch at the same time. Now all you have to do is figure out how to make your self sneeze while diving(Thank god my wife doesn't reed these forums). Where else on the web can you talk about gluing things to your private parts and or peeing all over yourself and have it be totally acceptable, geez I love scubaboard
.
Lynne, I wear a Poise pad with the She-P every time but I'm not afraid of leakage given I've not had any leakage problems when I use my She-P.Sam, I've also found that it's easier to let go if I have some kind of backup protection, like a pad or even Depends (which I wore in the beginning). Part of my brain is apparently really worried about leaks/failures, and I've had a few, which has somewhat reinforced that.
I can't pee if the people in the boat start making fun of me, either! A subtle leg hung over the rail is good. When I signaled "P" to Peter in the Room of Tears (we use thumb to middle, ring and small fingers, with index finger extending and pointing down, to make a "P") he started taking PICTURES of me. Needless to say, I gave up on THAT idea . . .
It's my mental issue or as some would say a mind issue so no GUE/DIR solution. The kitty litter idea is a hoot.Sam,
surely there is a "GUE/DIR checklist" for this?
And also a GUE procedure for having a "redundant way to pee" in your drysuit in case of failure of the Pee-valve? (I mean like kitty litter in your drysuit boots?)
Suggestion 1: "strain" a bit just to get it started.
Suggestion 2: Wait until you are old and incontinent.
OK, only the first suggestion might have merit. Or not.
Nicole, not only are my buddies watching me pee, they are taking pictures of me peeing on the surface.Thought of something else, Sam...
Did you buddies know you were trying to pee? Were they watching over you ever so closely while you were trying to go? I'm not one for stage fright normally, but I used to come down with a gnarly case of it when it came to using my p-valve! I actually have a buddy who used to think it was effing hilarious to loudly ask me what I was doing (in front of everyone on the boat!) if I were trying to go on the surface....and would just stare me down underwater when he could tell I was concentrating awfully hard on one bit of reef!
I learned that it was easier to just kind of hang off to the side while I tried to get it going, without bringing too much attention to myself. I don't know if the same was true for Lynne, but I recall a post of hers where she said she couldn't do it "in front" of anyone, until her cave diving buddies put her in the #2 position on a long dive![]()
Thanks, Kim. I'm very lucky not to have any "squeezes" or leakage episodes since being She-P'ed. I will try all the great suggestions everyone's posted in this thread.Sam my heart goes out to you. I have had my share of she-p struggles and "squeezes" I don't wish that on any one. As so many have said, relaxation and even a bit of distraction seems to let it flow.
I stood on a student platform at the quarry which sits at about 26 ft but could not pee. I even sat on the platform to simulate the "potty" position but no pee.Is it possible to stand on the bottom to try? Maybe it is the "weightlessness" feeling that is preventing you. By being negative and standing up (not just hanging on to something), might feel more like shore where you can do it.
Yes, I've tried that at the platform at our local quarry after not being able to pee in the horizontal position.sam, consider going into more of a 'potty' position underwater. maybe being horizontal just isn't gonna work for this for a while.
Again, no leakage issue cause when I eventually do use the She-P at the surface I remain quite dry.Maybe you're concerned it's going to leak. If that's the case, some of Marci's duct tape might help ... pink, of course ...

If you can pee at the dock you can pee in your sock
Can you pee standing up or is it too much ?
When in water up to you waist can you pee slowly or only in haste?
Maybe easing in will help or only make you yelp.
I want to help you Sam I am.
