I do the north face duffle - large (the shoulder straps are handy if you are strong enough). All my dive gear with reg. ends up at about 44lbs, fins on the bottom and wet suit on the top you really don't need to worry much.

I will be attempting one hard case and one soft case carry-on with an airline that restricts to two 7kg or 15lb bags. The Nanuk 935 hard case will meet weight but it is 10+lbs. so I will wear everything else in a travel vest and when I get through check-in it will all go into the hard case. Once I get to Asia though it will be a single 7kg bag so then I will fully load the Nanuk 935 and check it on. I do anticipate having to pay for overage on the check-in weight. I should have gone with an RX100 instead of the OMD EM-5 rigs if I wanted less hassles.

LL Bean makes pretty good hard bottom roller duffles. I used to use one before the weight restrictions got lower. Only bad point is they will not stay upright by themselves.
