Where in Europe do you live? When I was shopping for my wing I could have bought the Eclipse from four different shops, I chose the one with the best customer service. Google it; if you still need information afterwards, I could supply you with some 5 or so shops in Europe that I know sell them.

Also, have you dived a wing before? For some people, diving with anything more complicated than a wing isn't an option after they have tried it, you should consider that before you buy something.

I´m based in Germany. Yet l have found only one shop selling Halcyon.

And yes, I´ve got already some Wing Experience. But what do you mean with "more complicated than a wing"? you think BP/W is more comlplicated to dive to or with the setup or what? ;)

I have a SQ Balance but will probably replace it with a BPW in the near future. It is a very good BC with a couple of irritating problems.

1. The shoulder dump(s) are too far forward making it impossible to completely dump air in the horizontal position.

2. The bladder is U shaped not O shaped so air can trap in one side (without a dump).

Both the above can make controlled venting more difficult than it should be. That being said it is light, minimalist and very comfortable.

Have you got access to the diverite wings? They seem popular. I would definitely look for a circular bladder design. The Halcyons look great but you sure pay for the brand name.

Hi all,

I´ve heard that the Halcyon Eclipse should be the Wing to choose for a Monosetup.
But here in Europe it´s hard to come by and info is really rare.

So I´d like to know, what experiences you´ve made or what informations you could provide about Halcyon in general and especially on the Eclipse Setup (40 lbs)
Or should I more aim at the Pioneer?

I´d also thought about a Seaquest Balance for Airtravel, cause I guess it´s a bit difficult to travel with the Halcyon BP/w setup.

So is the SQ Balance the right choice? Or is there yet a better alternative?
Balance is quite cheap here at the moment.

Btw: price in Euros would be 689.- for the Eclipse, Steelplate, Mountingstraps etc.
SQ Balance nearly half of it.

thanx in advance,

toby

so confused! i feel like the pioneer is so right for me with the ss bp i dont need any addtl weight. wondering if i get the eclipse, having the ss sta pose problems for me or should i opt for the eclipse with aluminum backplate and ss sta? so many combinations pretty confusising for a new diver!

The regular Halcyon STA is very light and shouldn’t affect your trim. You can get a weighted STA if you need one.

I use a ss bp with my Eclipse 30 with a regular (non-weighted) STA and it’s fine.

Then it really shouldn't be hard to find someone to sell you the wing :-)

aquaoren already gave you the right links. I live in Austria and have shopped at all three of the companies (wing at T&R, almost all the rest of my equipment at the other two online stores). Personally, I would call Tom Karch at T&R Mönchengladbach. He's also a GUE Instructor and had some great advice for me when I bought my wing. See here: T&R Mönchengladbach

No, what I said is that once you know the simplicity of a wing, you might not want to go back to using jackets. YMMV.

Edit: You can also get the wing here:
