A bit of topic (i'm sorry) but for people who have taken Fundies 1 or 2 or the full course and did not pass on the first time, what was the typical fee to retake the course?
One typically doesn't need to retake a whole course. Once you have been given your assessment on where your strengths and weaknesses are, you can then go and work on those areas that need working/polishing. You can then (before the 6 month limit on your provisional pass) come back for a 'show me' style dive.
Usually, if done within a reasonable amount of time (within the 6 month time frame), at no expense to the instructor (i.e. you travel to them if any travel is required), and they are free that day, there may be no cost (at least with the half dozen instructors that I know). There isn't (AFAIK) an 'official' cost.
There may be costs involved if travel is required, going to a different instructor for an evaluation, out of time frame evaluation, any additional teaching/mentoring, 2nd/3rd/4th attempt, etc.
To retake a course, typically it is the whole cost. A separate deal may be made with the instructor on their fee's.
While not a fundies course, I've hopped in on several other courses (i.e. DPV, Documentation) as a 2nd/3rd teammate several times for a portion or the whole duration of a course. Only costs were my usual expenses to dive (travel, gas, charter/entrance fees, etc).
