I asked about available liveaboards for Catalina and nearby for LD Weekend a few weeks ago, but didn't find any. Dr.Bill helped me plan an island based visit instead, and I guess I'm set up:

Thur: Leave in wee hours for airport, fly to DW & LAX, S-Shuttle to dock, Ferry across, Seaport Village apt hotel.

Fri & Sat: 3 tank trips with Scuba Luv, lunch included

Sun: 2 more dives to be arranged, shallow. Rinse & dry gear, late fery to mainland.

Mon: Back to reality

Don't want Dr.Bill to feel responsible for all the suggestion I get. Anyone else care to offer any...?

Thanks,

and you ask now?

You'll be fine...your dates would not be easy to find on short notice on Avalon. Prime season. It's not really a liveaboard destination... most local boats take 2 hrs.

I'm sure you'll check out Casino Point while you are there.

Just don't drink that Scorpion thing at Luau Larry's. Surprisingly good...is it Mr. Ning's? Next to the Atwater Hotel. Mandarin, but decent.

Thanks,

I am NOW asking about Island based ideas, okay?

I did not mean to do so. It's just that Labor Day weekend, the official end of summer, tends to be busy out there, as you have probably discovered. I'm not familiar with the hotel, but I've been out with Scuba Luv and had a good time. Sounds like fun to me.

I've guaranteed my hotel and two days of boat dives. Open to other ideas...

:)

I would do the dive park, and check out Two harbors. (Try a Buffalo Milk!)

You may be interested in the above link, there are some neat shallow water wrecks that don't get a ton of action, due to sub-standard viz.

Labor Day weekend is a great party!
