if he's in there, good for him. he ain't coming back out. he did a heck of a job.

How small is the last restriction, exactly? Does it require gear removal? The news reports said the rescue divers wouldn't venture beyond it. If he's actually in there, could he have removed his gear, went through it, and got lost or stuck beyond that point?

It's looking more and more like he's not in there, but just wondering. Thanks.

So small a human head will not fit.

What if he's not human...?

Sorry couldn't resist with all these conspiracy theories flying about. I hope his body is found or enough evidence surfaces to conclusively state where he is (sitting on a beach somewhere or buried in the cave) to give his family and law enforcement the closure they need.

How about a new thread for conspiracy theories? ;p

"Possible killer on the loose, picking off solo cave divers at night.. Is it a crime or are they lost in a cave?"

If this guy is pulling a hoax, I'd hate to be him when it is found out.. Talk about pariah diver, to say the least..

Good story with Halloween coming up. He could be Phantom of the Cave. People think the place is haunted because of mishaps but it's actually HIM causing the mayhem.

That was a good one :D

Only a very, very seriously mentally ill person would do this as a joke. He would have to be running from something, and that something would have to catch him if he shows up somewhere.

Agreed on the seriously mentally ill part.. Besides the effort and danger he has put other people in, who the heck could do that to their own family, especially considering they just lost his brother a year or so ago.

That was a big IF. Nothing at this point says anything was done intentionally.

I can see the headlines on the tabloids now "PHANTOM OF THE SCUBA SOAP OPERA GETS SUCKED INTO THE VORTEX BY ALIENS!!"

If that were the case though, wouldn't they most likely have found his gear near the restriction but on "our" side of it?

Yes, unless he took it off to get through the hole then put it back on. That's why I was wondering about the size of the restriction.
