mntdiver:
Let's see, where to start... Hydrostatic pressure with the regulator sticking so far out in front. Not a particularly good performing reg anyway, three adjustment just to try to get it to perform. Just reeks of cheap. It is less expensive, but what the heck, it's only life support...
dscheck, I'm sorry, I don't mean to come across as insulting, but if I can ask, how much have you dived it? Do you dive it all the time and what have you compared it to?
No need to apologize for your opinion. It is food for thought and thought is good.
I just acquired the mask this summer and have dove it 6 times, twice in a pool for trials and training. I like the FFM so much that I do not intend on returning to a traditional mask and reg. I am so much more comfortable while breathing through my nose that my SAC has decreased dramatically. Must be all the yoga classes.
I have no problem with the reg performance and two adjustment points seem to be standard design in almost all regulators these days. I'm not sure what you consider a third adjustment.
I have been diving since 1987. Just in case your wondering what kind of diving experience I have in general.
Less expensive does not automatically equate to "cheap". I have worked in various manufacturing industries and the name of the game in manufacturing is cost reduction, while customers require continued quality.
I have the service manual and have rebuilt the entire mask. In my opinion, this mask is of quality design and workmanship.
I know I only have experience with the Neptune II and I could have a complete change of opinion if I ever have experience with any of the other FFM's
So there is my basis for my opinions on the Neptune II. I would appreciate a reciprocal amount of information, otherwise your opinion are not based upon any tangible experiences and therefore meritless.
I am also not trying to be insulting, but am in search of information. And heresay is just that to me...
Thanks
