So, I bought a cheap XS Scuba mask off Amazon as a backup mask. It has +1.75 readers pre-installed on both lenses, and they work great for reading my dive computer. But I wanted a better mask that also had readers installed, so I bought an Atomic Aquatics Subframe from my LDS and had them install the reader lenses.

However, when they installed +2.0s on both lenses, I could read fine out of the left lens, but the right lens was blurry. So, I had them change the right to +2.5, and it made it a little better but still not as good as the +2.0 in the left lens, and neither one of them were as good as the +1.75s in my cheap mask. But they didn't have anything stronger in stock, so I took it that way.

When I got home, I did research, and decided that the reason the Subframes aren't working the same as the XS Scuba is because of the low volume of the Subframe putting the lens closer to my eye. Based on what I'm reading, I either need to get a mask with more volume where the lens is further from my eyes, or I need to get a stronger magnification.

I'm nervous about asking them to order stronger lenses in case that doesn't actually work.

Does anyone know if the TUSA Ceos or Scubapro Zoom masks have the lenses as close to your eye as the Subframe? Or do you have any other suggestions?

On the XS Scuba mask there is a significant lip between the lens and the nose on the inside, while on the Subframe the lens is pretty much flush with the nose on the inside. And that's totally screwing up my ability to read the dive computer. If I move the subframe less than half an inch from my face, the lenses work perfectly. I'm somewhat surprised that my LDS wasn't familiar with this issue and that I can't find anything about it online. It seems that some masks would be significantly different than a normal prescription, so I'm wondering how people can tell the difference when they buy a mask.
