My first reg set was Apeks ATX40s on a DS4 1st stage. Almost 300 dives later I bought an Apeks TX50 set hanging off a DST 1st, only because DRIS had a deal on them I could not resist. Both sets were converted to DIN. The 40s are on an AL40 now.

These have performed flawlessly for me, warm water and cold, salt water and fresh.

Hard to go wrong with Apeks as a first set.

Or a second or third...

Hmm Tusa using the same jam nut, the mystery continues...are yours with the collar as per my right photo?

It's a TUSA "xpert", that's identical to a Scubapro R390 in every way, both appearance and internally, except branding. If you glanced quickly you would think it's the same brand.

The jam nut on both is splined plastic, and has a raised collar edge.

You really do need the splined wrench for the plastic splined nuts or it gets ugly quickly.

That translucent friction ring is captured, in the G260. One reason to prefer it over other ScubaPro 2nd stages, for technical diving.

It's "captured" on the G250 too, well, until the small tabs snap off that is. Ditto G250V.

Why not just put a 9/16 -18 SS or plastic jam nut(s) in place if the splined jam nut?
