I'm a new diver looking for an entry level computer that will last me awhile. I've been looking at wrist versions of these computers but I'd like other opinions before I decide which one to buy. I'd appreciate any comments and advice.

Oceanic Veo 180
Genesis ReActPro
Aeris XR1
Mares Nemo

I'd pick the Veo 180 simply because one of my computers is an older version of this. I've had the Aeris XR1 as well. If you pick the Aeris XR1 get the XR1 Nx. If you want a computer that will last you awhile you're probably going to want to get one that is Nitrox capable.

I don't really know all that much about the others so I won't comment. Oceanic and Aeris both are similar and have the same parent company. I prefer Oceanic but they're both fine

Another vote for the VEO 180. It's relatively liberal meaning you can personally choose to be conservative rather than being forced to be conservative by your computer. It does air, it does nitrox, and it has a gauge mode if you ever get into technical diving. It's also capable of uploading your logged dives to your PC so you can maintain an electronic logbook. I see them on sale for under $200 at least a few times a year making them quite the bargain IMO.

Hi,
we don't have YET the specialty classes for the other 3, but the one for the XR1 is ready:

Alberto (aka eDiver)

First off, I would go with wrist & Nitrox. Oceanic computers are very easy to use and I would be looking at current models oppose to older ones. Now to your question, which one?

We have some divers get the NEW VEO 1.0 (OLD Veo 100nx).

VEO 1.0 Wrist Computers *Buy Oceanic at DIVESEEKERS.com 888-SCUBA-47

Nice simple computer but Oceanic has a 30 day customer satisfaction and once you go on a Dive Trip, most of these people come back in and upgrade to the NEW VEO 2.0 (OLD Veo 250). So why not do it right from the start.

VEO 2.0 Wrist Computers *Buy Oceanic at DIVESEEKERS.com 888-SCUBA-47

VEO 2.0 worth it just for Back-lighting & Max Depth Alarm alone.

Thanks everyone. I ended up getting a Veo 180. It looks great - can't wait to use it.

IMO, you'll be happy with it....I've had one for almost 3 years now, no trouble & I've put it on some 'good' dives, one I remember: 165' for 1hr 05 minutes, deco'ed twice but got me home 'safe & sound'(I just followed it's advice).....
