you mean place the ring as close to the end of the wrist seal as possible ( while still maintaining the wrist seal enough to seal the wrist) ?

away from the body on the seal not close to the trilam right ?

Andy

Yup, you understand perfectly. The further from the trilam, the more room you have to work with. Don't be extreme about it, but just make sure not to butt the cuff ring up to the trilam. Let us know how it goes.

The rings are the least of my problems, the damn forearm dump is broken. Tried to remove it to do the other ring and its not coming off. Not tighening or lossening its just spinning around and around and around and around. Sounds like everything in there is loose and like a F***in can of marbles.

yes i read the directions and followed them, didnt come loose or unscrew at all, just spins. i am sure its F***ed up now, what a great day this has been. Bet i tear the seal getting the rings off now.

I can see it now, LDS saying "DUI will need to do this, your gonna have to send it in. probably take 3 to 4 weeks".

It is not easy putting those rings in. GH is right about the install. I had to position the ring about 1/4" from the tape that finishes the seal seam. I did not read anywhere but found out that the ring can only be pulled thru when perpendicular to the cuff, if it is not that way, the ring will get jammed in the cuff and you will feel like you are going to damage the seal( if you keep reefing on it, you will) that's where that little bit of latex (the 1/4") helps, it will allow you to twist the ring sideways.

From what I understand, the new rings are a little bit larger diameter, and really come close to maxing out the cuffs.

It took me 45 minutes to do the first cuff, and 5 minutes to do the other!

I have a forearm cuff dump, too, and I didn't have to mess with it at all to install the rings, I thought I would have to, but it wasn't in the way.

Good luck!!:)

I think I broke my DUI dump too... I reefed on it too hard the other day and it started turning freely... oh well... as long as it is wide open I don't care.

As for the rings... it definitely can be done Andy... it just isn't a fun job.... bring it up here and I will do it for you.

Hey... Jeff... when are we going to go diving?

Any tips on getting the O ring off without damaging the seal ?
I think i need to move the ring down the seal an inch and try again. I was going to do the other seal when i broke the dump trying to remove it.

So, Just how can i get that pesky O ring out without damaging the seal itself.

Have friend help. With your thumbs coming from opposite directions push on the o-ring stretching it around the groove until it humps up between your thumbs on the opposite side of the cuff ring from where you started.

Your friend then grabs the hump and rolls the o-ring off.

Your teeth might be your best friend.

Andy,
when you make your second attempt at doing your cuffs, you could put them on without keeping the seals operational. It seems that it is easier to put the rings in that way. If you are up against the wall and ready to rip your drysuit into pieces, that could be a viable option.:)

yeah i was thinking that was the best way. No chance of a tool damaging the seal or o ring.

My hands dont get cold now, i liked the dexerity the dry gloves was gonna give me, that coupled with the dry factor was the main selling point.

if i cant get it to work without buying extra seals i wont use them. I will put them up on the auction for cheap.

I will be trying again after i get my dump valve fixed. it is broken and i cant get it off, so im off to the dealer Sat morn to see if they can. Sounds like its going to be a week if i have to leave it.

I am not happy that this brand new dump took a crap so easily. Maybe i did break it, but if what i did broke it then its not a very robust dump.

Andy

According to the DUI directions i did it right but they fail to mention the safety ring they installed to prevent users from messing with there dump valves.

This i got from the DUI dealer who is going to fix my valve. he was right though, theres a ring on there, he also says most people remove it.

There is a broken plastic ring in mine now. I hope DUI can just give me a new part instead of making me buy a new Dump valve.

Either way i cant dive this weekend the tech is gone until monday.
