subject sums it up.... m planning to get an atomic z2... nd i was thinking if i had to get an octopus, id wana get those really slim looking ones that wont rily be taking up much space...

What is an atomic X2? They make T2, B2, M1, Z2, etc.

I dive Z2 and it's fantastic...some people use the Atomic SS1 as an octopus/inflator unit.

Cheers.

Synonym,

The quick answer to your question is NO. The octo can be a different brand than your primary 1st stage & 2nd stage regs. So you are free to get what you like for your octo.

I have an Atomic Z1, and have a Zeagle ZX octo. Works fine. The general consensus from reading Scubaboard on this topic seems to be that you want to get an Octo that is of comparable quality to your primary. Atomic is a good quality reg. You will want to pair it with another good quality reg to make sure your Octo will perform correctly when you need it.

I personally didn't want to pony up the $$ for an Atomic octo, and got something that I feel confident in without having to blow my budget.

Hope this helps.

another thing to think of if you do decide to mix and match... is your lds an authorized rep for both manufacturers.

Depends on where you are from. I have seen written on this board that it is illegal to have different brands on the same kit in the UK. Anyone from there want to comment?

I did alot of diving in the UK this past summer, never heard anything like that Dennis

Thanks. I forget when I saw this, but it seemed like something any Government would do if they regulated the SCUBA industry. I think it's silly an dhope it isn't true.
