Well I'm leaving for akumal this Sunday and I finally figured out I have a power inflator problem. I just rebuilt my mk10 g250 set and was checking the ip veep when I noticed the bc would get full after twenty minutes.

I ordered a replacement inflator and bc tool, but I'm not sure it or the BC tool will arrive in time.

Anybody know how to DIY the Inflator pin spanner? Or other common tool to get this out with.

Are you referring to the Schrader valve? If so, a bike shop or hardware store should be your answer. Sorry if I have the wrong part.

I use a pair of extremely thin needle nose pliers to unscrew Schrader valves from my gear.

I have used the bent nose pliers but made my own tool from a socket (17mm). As much as I hate to say it, I used a Dremel tool to cut away the metal that did not fit. That ment thinning down both the inside and the outside and cutting away the face leaving just the two tabs to engage the retainer on the LPI. Probably more work than it was worth but I wanted one that day. Picture will have to wait for a camera battery charge.

Explicit profanity and a needle nose plier got it out. It was ridiculous inside corrosion and such. One of the 006 orings inside the inflator assembly was crumbly. The 011 012 and 112 were fine. The 006 were poly. I was forced to replace them with whatever the hardware hank Orings are made of. The clerk just stared at me when I asked what material and durometer they were.

It needs to be snugged back in place. You could always visit your favorite LDS for parts, and the tool if asked nicely?? They should stock a rebuild kit (O-rings) for the inflator.

I'm sure that an equivalent amount of profanity will enable me to reinstall the inflator assembly. I will be surprised if it seals due to extreme pitting of the chrome inside the inflator assembly. I am tempted to switch my order from a standard inflator to one of the hog stainless steel inflators. They look nice and don't need the bc tool to take apart.

Leak checked failed, it must be too corroded to seal properly. Anybody need a spare inflator as is?

Well, I'm late to the party; but if you decide to buy an inflator tool, NESS sell one that also has a tank valve tool attached. It only cost 50 cents more than the standard tool.

Try a vinegar bath and then crocus cloth on the corroded bits then lube generously.....good luck.

Couv you inspired me pull it apart one more time. looking at the inflator I could see and feel that the distal 006 oring was not re-entering the inflator assembly. I ended up lengthening the spring, so it would pull back slightly harder and lubing generously. The distal 006 does not hang up at all now. Absolutely no leaks. Thanks!
