Well girls, I'm back from my certification (which was awesome, minus some equalization issues...boo! Stupid sinus blockage!) and I'm happy to report that the keeper passed with flying colours!!! I'm also glad I've caught your interest, because it's a great little invention, and I'm never going back to tampons, ever!!!

Thanks for all your help, girls!

Okay, I am totally getting one. Or three.
No tampons? Ever? How cool would that be?

How do you ladies find the "accident" incidence? Is it acceptable compared to tampons? How is it to use one when you have cramps? How long did it take you all to adjust and to be able to place them without too much acrobatic movement? (anyone remember "the Sponge?" That thing takes some serious practice. Whoo doggie).

I have read the FAQ, but I prefer hearing it from real folks. :)

Oh, and can anyone tell me whether they prefer the Keeper or the Diva Cup? They are about the same price.

I still use tampons, but if I am boat diving I definately use the keeper. The accident incidence for me is probably less with the keeper than with tampons. I don't get cramps, can't answer that question. It probably took 3 cycles for me to use it without too many problems. The first thing I had to do was really trip that little finger grip down! At first, it was kind of "ewww", but practice makes perfect.

I find the accident incidence less than with tampons, if you get it in the right place I never find that it leaks. With tampons they would often leak no matter what....

Took me about two cycles to figure it out, you can tell when it is in the right place once you get used to it, just read the directions, wetting it first helps..... I missed that part to begin with. It might be a little ewwww at the beginning, but I find it much less so then tampons and pads now.

I still use pads sometimes, for some nights cause I have much less flow then and like to take a break, although that is more a habit from the unpleasantness of tampons than any reflection on this. I also wear it some nights and it is perfectly comfortable.

I use the divacup, haven't tried the keeper, but I liked that it was made from silicon.

As to cramps, I do get cramps, but I find that I get less than I used too, the tampons used to exacerbate the problem, but I don't find the divacup to do so

I think that was all your questions

Thanks you guys! I appreciate the feedback. I think I will try it. I am thinking I will go for the Divacup, since it looks, well, softer.

I love this forum. :D

Great, let us know how it goes :)

I got the Diva Cup. Okay, I am a convert, through and through. My only regret is not discovering this thing until I was 42. It's FABULOUS! I knew it would be environmentally friendly and would reduce or eliminate the need for tampons, but I didn't anticipate that it would be SO great.
I got the hang of it right away. I took it out of the little package and my eyes got really big. It's really....big! I thought, well, there's just no way that would be comfortable. And there's no way that it will be easy to retrieve. But I was wrong! It's simple as anything. It's comfortable. And the best thing of all, there is NO leakage. No accidents. Nada. Nuthin'.
And I feel CLEAN! The usual methods left me feeling, oogh, how can I put this? Feeling not so fresh. :) Diving is a challenge, too, I was always worried about accidents while underwater. How embarrassing would that be? It actually happened to me once.
This cup makes it as if there was nothing going on in there at all. At all. You'd never know. I can wear white with confidence, even on the worst days. Cramps are no worse than usual. You have to, uh, maintain it every 10 or 12 hours, but that's it. It's a piece of CAKE.

I love this thing.

The Keeper or Diva Cup is also a nice alternative if you travel to places with less then adequate sewer systems, like many parts of Mexico. Sorry, but I don't really want to putting all the TP and tampons, etc., that I use in a wastebasket when sharing a condo with 3 or 4 people. And I feel badly for the maids who get to dumb that every day. Yeah, it's an ooooooooooo thing.

Sue, unfortunately alot of young women either aren't comfortable enough with their bodies or just don't know about the alternatives. You usually go with whatever your mother gives you until you start talking to friends or doctors and realize there's something that suits you better.

 If I went with what my mother showed me, I'd still be wearing a belt and using those enormous, twin-bed sized pads.
