I'm not sure I understand what you're saying but one of the reasons I bought the original Blacktip (before it was called travel) was because it is rated to 300ft/100m. I've dove that tube to 250-300ft a decent number of times.

I then bought the "upgraded" Tech tube because it would trim out and it supposedly carried an additional depth rating of 400ft/~121m. I figured this was a much greater safety margin for the 300ft dives I was doing at the time. I then bought a 2nd and 3rd Blacktip Tech because I was comfortable with that depth rating.

Frankly, I would not have bought these scooters if I did not think it could handle the advertised depth rating. Yes I realize this is all a moot point as nothing Dive Xtras I own is currently under any sort of warranty. I'm just pointing out that one of the reasons I bought them was because I was comfortable and happy with their advertised depth rating. I would not have bought these scooters if they were only rated to 60m or 70m.

Perhaps this is all fine and it only affects a small number of Tech tube batches. They seem to indicate it only affects Tech tubes from Jan 2023 through Jan 2024. Mine are firmly outside this date range but the question still remains. Is one of my scooters going to implode at 300ft?
freind of mine has taken a tech tube to 125m without issue

If anyone out there is looking to buy the DiveXtras Blacktip scooter please don't bother. Their customer service is none existent.

I've basically been sold a leaking scooter, only to be told that it comes with no guarantee it won't leak. They assured me that every unit is 100% leak tested so any leak must be my fault. They track everything but didn't have the serial number of my unit???

When I proved it was leaking I was told I had no warranty (because it leaked), when I stripped it and found a hair across the mechanical seal and grease all over the sealing face (you never do this on a mechanical seal) I was told I'd definitely voided my warranty because I stripped it (the only option they'd offered me was for the unit to be shipped to the US at my own expense (I'm in the UK) and rebuilt by them at my expense - this would have cost circa $1,500). I documented the stripping of the unit and they hair is not the same colour as mine or anyone else's in my household.

I ordered all the parts needed to rebuild it myself as they are clearly incompetent, shipped to the UK only to find that the Window for the screen had come loose and was leaking. This apparently is because they use a water soluble glue (W.T.F!!!) and as I'd got it wet I've caused the window to fall out.

Nothing for it but to import a new window ($7 + $50 shipping). So I decided I'd order 2 windows - makes sense right? They've sent me ONE. And refunded me the $7 for the other window when I've highlighted the error on their part.

They will accept ZERO responsibility for their ineptitude.

I'm done with importing anything from the US,I've had better customer service from Chinese suppliers.

My Blacktip tech leaked last year when probably less than a dozen dives in. I suspect I'd been getting water in from the beginning. Has anyone had any success with their customer support/warranty? I'm in the UK and was essentially told there was no warranty at all against leaks and that they are 100% certain it was leak free when I purchased it so ergo I've done something to cause the leak. However, when I stripped it, I found a hair across the mechanical seal's sealing face (different colour to mine) and way too much grease, including over the sealing face - which should run in the medium it is immersed in. When I sent them the pictures they essentially told me that because I'd stripped it (conscious that all that had been offered before was that I pay shipping from the UK and back PLUS the repair cost) I again had no warranty and I shouldn't have stripped it, suggesting my actions were the same as taking a new car back to the store in bits...but what other option did I have?

On rebuilding and vac testing I also found the screen to be loose which they claimed was because I'd had water inside (I'm talking about 1/4 cup full not a complete flood, and a leak detector I'd installed meant I was able to bail and get it shallow nose down, so water would not have been running across the screen). If such a small amount of water will cause the screen to delaminate will it not delaminate over time anyway?

They have provided some customer support in as much as they have sold me the spares I need to rebuild it my self, but I have to say I'm very disappointed. I also very much suspect selling an underwater vehicle with no warranty at all against flooding is not legal here. I ran a Sierra for a decade and managed not to flood it.

I really like their product but fear I will be looking elsewhere for my next DPV.
Sorry to hear you had problems, but I'm curious which leak detector you installed and how well it worked?
