I doubt there will be a problem (for me)with any of the swimming requirements for Fundies, but I am curious, where in 2.1.2.9 of the GUE Standards it mentions anything about swimming skills? Nor is it listed under section 1.5 "Diving Skills". Anyone willing to help me in my dilemma? or am I just missing something in the standards?
btw: this question si based off of the standards found online at http://www.gue.com/classroom/standards/PDF/GUE_Standards_2003v2a.pdf

You can find it at:

"4. Must be able to swim a distance of at least 50 feet/15 meters on a breath hold"
"5. Must be able to swim at least 300 yards/275 meters in less than 14 minutes without stopping. This test should be conducted in a swimsuit and, where necessary, appropriate thermal protection."

Section 2.1.2.2 Prerequisites.

It's on the first page of the DIRF Fundamentals Course, right under Purpose.

I'd assume, since your from NE. Your taking it with Bob Sherwood.
He will require a 400 yd swim, 90' breath hold. (at least that's what it was last month)
The standards are listed as a minimum.

100' breath hold swim? Are you serious?

pants!:

I just edited it to 90'.
It was a 15 yd pool- we had to go up and back

Wow... I guess I got off easy with the 50' breath hold! Apparently it's all in technique and being relaxed (vs. going for speed), but I'm still working at comfortably doing greater than 50' :).

Bob's a stud. From what I hear from his students, *all* of the DIRF required skills are considered minimums to Bob. <g> Pass or fail, this guy will make you a much, much better diver.

I called my DIR-F instructor about it. He said it's a 300 yard swim in 14 minutes and 60' swim under water on a single breath.
