have you considered that the thought of ditching a $17,000 weight belt might be so unpalatable to someone, that they could hesitate to ditch the weight when they might be in trouble? Used lead weight goes for a couple bucks a pound around here, so I'd have no hesitation in letting it slip into the abyss....

Stainless steel rusts!

Just became the proud owner of another 10 ingots of 1kg lead weights

To add, to the other few hundred kilograms

That you will have to unclasp from my cold dead belly

And I've hidden plenty in a few of these too

Stainless steel shot especially rusts!

Help me out, what am I staring at Happy?

It *looks* like an old plastic backplate sans wing, but I’ve followed enough of your posts to know it may be some interesting home-brew *thing*

Exactly how many years are we assuming that this lead is laying at the bottom of this pool?

it's an old blow molded backplate, commonly used with steel 72s. He's filled it will lead shot...you know, to make it heavy.

I intend to save the environment by switching to Platinum weights. They are also denser than lead so I’ll be able to lower the total weight needed by a small amount. It is very resistant to corrosion, and fairly easy to work with.

I’ll need several kg for cold water dry suit diving.

Unfortunately it costs a bit more than lead. Surely you can all send me a cash donation to help in this noble cause?

There are far worse problems to address. Lead contamination by using lead weights in a pool. I guess that the Ucraine and Israel wars are much more contaminant to all us than the use of lead weights in a pool.
We worry if we see a nylon bag throwed in the street that the wind will push it to the sea and a turtle will die if it eats it, and we think that we are contaminating the environment, but no one is worried by the brutal contamination that so many bombs are exploding in Ucraine and Israel, and the rest of the wars worldwide.
