At the worst, a new DAN tag is $20, maybe some freight. I've been tempted to get one so I don't have to wear a separate mirror. Maybe I will.

Even if DAN discontinues the old number in time, most will have the new one I think.

While I'm sure it's better than nothing, I wouldn't consider the DAN tag housing to be an effective signal mirror. Yeah, it's chromed polished metal when you buy it. But the outside bangs around on your BC and gets scratched and scuffed. If you want to think about taking it apart and using the inside surface, that's less polished, and mine was all gunked up with salt residue when I looked at it recently.

Plus, no hi-tech sighting hole. I have the tag, I still carry my "real" signal mirror tucked away in a pocket. So if you want a DAN tag, fine, obviously I think it's a good idea. But don't expect you'll then stop carrying the mirror you have. JMO.

Nice, they get me to spend $25 on this, then change the number. And they won't sell you the insert without the mirror "for my own safety" per the faq.

Actually, the 684.8111 number will still get you to DAN, or any of the Duke Hyperbaric physicians. That is the main switchboard for Duke University Medical Center. The 684.9111 number is a MORE direct line to them but the old number is not wrong.
