Yes this sucks. I fly with Chalks from time to time and they have great seaplanes.

CNN kinda blows becuase they want to charge you for the live feed!!

The bodies have all been recovered-no surviviors. NTSB will remove the plane and reaasemble it in a hangar somewhere.

I'm sure the wreck will be recovered. it appears it was near the port entrance in pretty shallow water. The NTSB will recover it for finding cause of the crash.

As for it actually being a dive site, I doubt that it will be re-sunk as that, especially
for out of respect of the passengers who died on it.

Anyone who has made the trip from South Florida to the Bahamas on one of Chalk's Grumman Mallards knows the fun and adventure that the trip offers.

Today one of the magnificent planes crashed shortly after takeoff from Miami. Witnesses say that there was a trail of smoke as the plane disintergrated into Government Cut.

Our hearts go out to the families and friends of the 19 souls on board.

Our main transportation to Catalina when I moved here decades ago was on Grumman Goose and later Mallard seaplanes. We had our share of crashes back then. I almost ended up in one myself. I hear the this is Chalk's first crash involving passengers. Condolences to the family and friends.
