This past week end (july 3) the water was a pleasant 61 down to about 30 fsw
and a brisk 55 at the swim platform

I have never sean the Viz that bad there. Has it been windy off the coast of catalina?

Still better than Laguna but, yes the viz was lower than normal last weekend ( at best 30' down to 15' in spots) and yes a more noticiable thermalcline than normal. No real current but more surge than the norm. And wind and we did not see the sun untill after 12:30...but it was still a great day of diving!!!

I love diving the park on days when the marine layer lasts. It makes the SI in the undergarments comfortable. :D

Not as likely to get a hit here but don't need a new thread.....anyone free to dive Friday?

Dove yesterday and conditions had definitely improved. Vis was 25-30 ft and we saw a lot of interesting stuff. FAR better than my dives on Sat.

Yes, we have had weeks of fairly strong winds running up or down the leeward side. Made surface intervals much colder than desired if diving wet, and caused a fair bit of wind chop at times. Weird weather for this time of year.

Yes very unusual weather for this time of year.

I'm glad to hear about the improvement in conditions there though.

I dived Tuesday at the dive park and blue car wreck, and Wednesday at Hen rock and Torqua springs. visibility has improved 100 percent, there was still a surge but it is getting less each day. Still lots of schooling bait fish around and Black sea bass at Hen and many soupfin sharks at torqua. Things are really looking up for this weekend, it should be great!!!!

Heard that vis had again increased yesterday so the trend is positive. Tim's comment about the soupfins at Torqua is really cool... especially since he told me they were not freaked out by the divers' bubbles (as they usually are with me).
