Can I come too?

Sure you can come too! :D

Austin etc..,

I am pretty sure that we will be eating around the shops at Waikoloa, or at one of the Restaraunts at the Hilton. Have you every been to The Big Island before? This will be our third trip there in 4 years so if you need any ideas of stuff to do just PM me.

Neither Susan or I have been there yet, so why don't you pick a restaurant and a night that you think would be suitable for everyone. Looks like September 2 or 3 would work for everyone.

We will be staying at the Hilton, so a restaurant near Waikoloa would work or we could try something closer to Kona, if that would work better.

We are also at the Hilton the first few nights. The 2nd would work for us as we are doing the Manta night dive with Kona Honu on 9/3. There is a Roy's there as well as a restaraunt that I can't remember the name of right now( I think it may be Big Island Steak House?). I will PM you closer to the date and give you our cell number to get in touch for timing. :D

Roys= too much money! Big Isle steak house is great but spendy too. Don't forget that the village is just a few minutes away up the hill. Anthony's (tell Sweetie I said Hi) The golf course steak house I don't rember the real name are both good for less coin.

Wildcard,
Do you know what the name of the steakhouse is in Waimea that is right near the grocery store? Not the Parker ranch rest. this one changed names between my trips and I can't remember the name right now.
Thanks for advice, just wanted to keep it simple for everyone to find, that is why Big Island Steakhouse, is Anthony's up in the shopping center in Waikoloa Village??

Not Wildcard, but I'll chime in. I think you are referring to the old Koa House Grill. We haven't eaten there since the remodel and name change, but we did right before the remodel and didn't think it was up to par with what it had been under the prior ownership. Haven't heard much about the place since.

That place in Waimea - it's so it's Koa House Grill now, or is that the old name? (What was the old name?) I think I ate there 4 years ago and the food was amazing - bummer if it's not as good anymore.

Koa House Grill is the old name if it's the place I'm thinking of. We used to eat there at least once a year. It's a building out on it's own pad just north of the older shopping center and grocery. It had a sort of local cowboy karoake bar in the front with the restaurant in the back two thirds. Fantastic food and a decent salad bar at night. Prices have gone towards the more high end over the last 4 years or so.

It got bought out and then later closed and went through a remodel. Haven't been there since, but I've heard through the grapevine that it lost it's local feel.

As long as were talking about food for a moment, the restaurant with probably the best combination of quality, amibience and price is in Kealakekua at the Keei Cafe. If anyone ate there a few years back, it's no longer the 9 card table hole in the wall it used to be. It's gone Koa and Mahogany, about 5 times the size, full bar, but kept the menu and pricing pretty much the same. It could directly compete with any of the resort restaurants in all those categories and would clobber the resort places on price.

later,
